"Who am I to you?" she asked, her hazel eyes brimming with unshed tears. She fought hard to keep them at bay, wanting to appear brave. She refused to let him see how much his answer affected her.
"My wife," he said, his gaze locked onto hers, the same hazel eyes that always had the power to make him do things he never intended. Seeing her like this made his jaw clench, self-loathing creeping into his bones. He wanted to punch himself for being the reason behind her pain, but he stood there, helpless and broken.
"Just in name," she spat, as if the word wife was poison on her tongue, something so vile that merely hearing it from his mouth made her sick.
"Just your fucking responsibility!" she screamed, her voice laced with anger and agony.
"Don't use bad words, Suru," he warned, his voice turning stern, almost scolding her.
"I am not a child!" she yelled before storming off, leaving him standing there, watching her disappear.
